Be prepared to walk. Market Street (lots of shops), the various historical points/museums, Battery Park and East Battery Street, are somewhat scattered. Forget about driving your car - there is almost no legal parking except at your motel and, if you're very lucky, along E. Battery Street. Actually, everything is within easy walking range but, CAUTION! Wear thick-soled shoes. Charleston's coble stones will get to you very quickly. And watch your step; it is very easy to trip. All the motels are conveniently located. No matter where you choose to stay, you will have to do some walking. But it is well worth it.
