Looks can be very deceiving. When
entering Montgomery by car you'll encounter Montgomery's beltway; it
isn't an 'Interstate' beltway - it is a locally grown gem which makes
getting around so very convenient. In fact it doesn't have an assigned
highway designation but many. Beside the variety of route numbers, it is
named (logically) Northern Boulevard, East Boulevard, etc. There is a
message here. This community is even more varied than the highway
designations hint.

Montgomery is a major agriculture center,
hosts some major industrial complexes and a very important Air force
Base. It hosts an internationally known Shakespeare Festival, is the
site of some exquisite gardens, a restoration of a 19th century Alabama
town complete with actors portraying community life of the period, a
space-age planetarium and a well equipped and maintained zoo. And
there's lots of history to be viewed around town including a special
'falling water' monument to the civil rights movement.
