New Orleans is served by New
Orleans International Airport (Louis Armstrong Field) which is 10 miles west of
the New Orleans city limits.
First, the good
news! New Orleans is back in business. Actually the flooding did very
little damage to the French Quarter
(which is high ground) and the downtown
area survived very well. The 9th ward - which was completely
devastated and which the media loves to crow about — was never a tourist
destination.
New Orleans is an
old city - with old traditions. Building the Interstate through the center
of town, almost on top of the French Quarter,
didn't changed things much.
The exits at the French Quarter (234-B through 236-C) all take you to the
same places. It is more a matter of personal preference and which
direction you are coming from. Many of the desirable hotels in New Orleans
are not 'near' an I-10 exit (e.g., the Garden District). Hence, we have
altered our usual format and have listed the hotels by postal zone ('ZIP'
codes). The last two digits of the relevant zones are indicated on the
City Map of New Orleans in green circles. Click on the circle nearest your
destination and, if there are discount hotels in that Zone, a
page listing them will be presented on your monitor.
If you know the city well enough to know the neighborhoods, we also have
an index by neighborhood. (see
INDEX).

All
the world knows there's no place like New Orleans. Though world
famous for its jazz and its annual Mardi Gras celebration, there is so
much more. In fact, it could be arguably said that the time to enjoy New
Orleans is after the roar of Mardi Gras has faded away and you can walk
on the banquette (sidewalk) again. Not that the party's over, for
parties seem to be a way of life in New Orleans.
But why walk. Enjoy New Orleans
from the water. Glide over the tranquil bayous and take in the New
Orleans skyline. Or board the New Orleans' only remaining sternwheeler,
the Natchez for an evening jazz/dinner cruise.
Finding
and reserving a hotel room with amenities and a price that best suits you
is very easy here on Hotels-near-Airports.com. Using the
maps, or the text directories, let your mouse quickly provide you with a
very useful selection of possibilities. We can show you hotels near the
New Orleans airport or hotels offering discounts in
the
New Orleans area.
But, regardless of how you
choose to see New Orleans...
don't forget the French Quarter! |
